Rabbi Moshe Hauer:

[about Rabbi Moshe Hauer: ‘Mishpacha’  article]

Recurring Tragedy – The Relevance of Mourning the Churban

Here is an extremely powerful and moving shiur / talk.  It’s 52:40 long, but I recommend you find time to listen right through, at any time, but certainly some time during the Three Weeks, in preparation for Tisha Be’Av.
After a short introduction, Rabbi Moshe Hauer speaks.  The talk was given during the Three Weeks, and from the various comments it becomes clear it was recorded during a challenging time for the Jewish people.
Then eventually it emerges that this was shortly after the three boys went missing, Naftali Frankel ז”ל, Gilad Shaar ז”ל and Eyal Yifrach ז”ל, in 2014, and had at the time of this recording, tragically, been discovered.
Although Rabbi Hauer’s roles are mentioned in the introduction, he later joined the Orthodox Union (OU) as its Executive Vice President, in 2020.
He is a humble, softly-spoken Talmid Chacham, and enormously inspirational.

Recurring Tragedy – The Relevance of Mourning the Churban

While we talk a lot about the various laws that apply to this time of year, we can find ourselves guilty of not sufficiently preparing ourselves on the personal, emotional level.  This powerful piece enables us to do just that.  And it’s not about deep, mystical ideas but rather simply basic interpersonal stuff. Loving and caring for others.
